20 Years of Hauntings

After 20 year's of Haunts Grimmstone Cemetery is closing its gates.
Please come out and enjoy the very last haunt.

Grimmstone Cemetery wishes to thank everyone who has come out over the year's to come visit us.

Grimmstone Cemetery's 20th and final haunting.

For the last 19 years I have been running my annual Halloween Haunted Cemetery. This year, 2006, will mark the 20th anniversary of Grimmstone Cemetery and it's last haunting. I have decided to close Grimmstone Cemetery's gates after this year.

If you have never partaken in Grimmstone Cemetery, you should make the trek out to see it. One of the ways that I have describe Grimmstone is that it is like having Disneyland's Haunted Mansion on the front lawn of your home. Grimmstone Cemetery isn't just something that you drive by in your car to look at. Grimmstone is much like theater in the round. You really have to get out of your car and pass through the gates of this haunted cemetery to really capture the whole essence of this home haunt.

Grimmstone Cemetery really takes you out of your element and makes you believe that you are in a haunted cemetery. It does not rely on bigger Halloween event scare tactics like people jumping out or gory slasher characters. Grimmstone Cemetery is more of a spooky, eerie halloween. It embraces the mystery and ghostly like properties that Halloween has to offer.

With my 14 year background in special effects, props, miniatures and set building, really makes Grimmstone Cemetery stand out from your basic yard display. You really believe that you are caught in a lighting storm or that those ghosts are actually there. There are also some mechanical and lighting effects too.

Grimmstone Cemetery is one of my great loves and it does sadden me to see it closing after this year. If I had to pick a time that Grimmstone should close, it is only fitting that it is on its 20th year anniversary. I still remember the days that Grimmstone Cemetery (before it had the name Grimmstone Cemetery) was just a project that my friends and I started back in Jr High School. It was our big summer project. Of course we all moved on and I keep the tradition going.

I have been getting emails asking me "what are you going to be doing with all of Grimmstone Cemetery's stuff, i.e. props, equipment, etc." To let you know, I will not be getting rid of any of it or throwing any of it away. I have a place to store all of it. Grimmstone Cemetery will just be in hibernation for now. There have been jokes that I am going to be resurrecting Grimmstone Cemetery for a 21st year next year, but I can assure you that wont be happing, at least not for quite awhile. This is in fact the last year in my mind.

The wind blows and the leaves on the trees turn brown.
The smell of rain fills the air, and you notice a green glow

to the night’s sky as the sun sets.

Halloween is the time when Grimmstone Cemetery
opens its gates for the living. It is the time of year when the
spirits of the past get to visit. It is Grimmstone Cemetery’s
20th year of haunting, and you are all invited.

The festivities will begin when the sun sets over
Van Nuys, California and the haunting will
continue
until the witching hour each night.

Some frequently asked questions about Grimmstone Cemetery:

2. Grimmstone Cemetery is appropriate for kids of all ages

3. Grimmstone Cemetery is not the type of Haunted House that goes for the gross out scare. Grimmstone Cemetery shows you the spookyness that Halloween has to offer. Grimmstone Cemetery is like theater in the round, that will take you out of your normal element.

4. If it happens to rain, please check back to see if Grimmstone Cemetery will continue to run.
